109 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Thailand

Thailand's total number of Covid-19 cases on Saturday (March 28) surged to 1,245 with 109 new cases confirmed over a 24-hour period while one person died, according to the Covid-19 situation management centre spokesman Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin.

The death of another patient raised the number of fatalities from the virus to six.

One hundred patients of the total 1,245 Covid-19 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, Sujariyakul Anupong, senior expert in preventive medicine at the Department of Disease Control, said on Saturday (March 28).
Six people have died and 1,139 are hospitalised.
A 55-year-old woman, who also had diabetes, was the latest Covid-19 fatality. She was admitted to hospital on March 23.
Meanwhile, 57 provinces have reported confirmed cases with Bangkok having the most number of patients at 515.

In a related matter, the Metropolitan Police Bureau on Saturday (March 28) ordered a group of its officers to spray anti-virus disinfectants at 12 locations across Bangkok as part of continued efforts to stem the Covid-19 outbreak.
Its officers also will join the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in disinfecting public places as well as police stations.
In Supan Buri, Agriculture and Cooperatives Deputy Minister Prapat Potasuthon organised a workshop to teach people to make cloth masks and hand washing gel. Prapat said that the workshop aims to produce 50,000 masks within seven days.
In Narathiwat and Phatthalung provinces, officials sanitised the provincial hall to prevent the outbreak from infecting officials and people who come to the hall.
In Rayong, mayor Worawit Supachokchai and his team delivered 20,000 cloth masks to a post office, which will be delivered to the homes of Rayong people within Rayong municipal areas by April 1.
The second and third lot of masks, totalling 20,000 each, will be later delivered to all communities in the province.
Phayao Governor Kamol Chiangwong said on Saturday that the province has two confirmed cases of virus infections. The first case is a 65-year-old man who works at an entertainment venue on Asoke Road in Bangkok.
The other is a 47-year-old woman who works at a traditional massage palour in Bangkok. Both patients have been hospitalised.
