Heavy rain forecast for many parts of Thailand

The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (May 20) that a rather strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and Thailand.

Heavy rains are forecast in some parts of Thailand while moderate wind waves are likely in the Andaman Sea. All ships should proceed with caution, keep away from the storm and small boats should stay ashore until May 21, the department said

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-26 degrees and highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius.
Northeastern region: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-26 degrees and highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius.
Central region: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 33-37 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-26 degrees, highs of 32-34 degree Celsius; waves two metres high and over two metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 33-38 degrees Celsius.
