More than 1,000 Thais will be repatriated on Thursday and Friday (May 21 and 22) from eight different countries after being stranded overseas during the coronavirus pandemic.

Today, the first batch of 15 Thais landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport from Hanoi at 11.15am, to be followed by 295 from Australia and 87 from China, who will arrive at 5.20pm and 5.45pm, respectively.
“Meanwhile, 215 Thais from India will arrive at Don Mueang Airport at 7.25pm,” said Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
Friday would see a total of 400 Thais return from overseas, he added.
“One hundred from the United States, 80 from South Korea, and four from Tunisia will arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 10.40pm, 10pm, and 8.55am, respectively,” he said.

The US has the highest incidence of Covid-19 in the world, with 1.58 million confirmed cases and almost 94,000 deaths, as of May 21.
Taweesin added that all returnees will be sent to state quarantine where their symptoms will be monitored for 14 days.
