Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang on Wednesday (July 1) visited Prachaniwet Prathom and Prachaniwet Matthayom schools in Chatuchak district to check the implementation of Covid-19 prevention measures on the first day of the 2020 semester, which had been postponed since early this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“All schools must set up a screening checkpoint at the entrance using thermal scanners, while students must wear face mask, clean their shoes and wash their hands with alcohol gel sanitisers before entering school buildings,” he said. “Parents are not allowed inside the school to reduce the risk of the virus spreading and also avoiding bottlenecks at the checkpoints. They must drop their children off at the entrance, while schools will dispatch staff to facilitate the flow of traffic.”

Athicha Wilaikaew, the parent of a student, said that the school had organised a meeting with staff and parents to notify measures that would be implemented when the school reopens. “To put parents’ minds at ease, the school will also maintain social distancing measures in the classroom and deploy clear plastic partitions at the cafeteria, as well as prohibit activities that involve students gathering,” she said. “I have told my child to follow the rules strictly, to wear a face mask and wash his hands regularly.”
