Meanwhile, the monsoon trough still lies across the middle South while strong southwest winds prevail across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the South, the department said, advising people in risky areas to beware of severe conditions that may cause flash floods and water runoff. It warned all small boats to stay ashore while ships should keep away from areas with thundershowers as waves over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf are 2-3 metres high and will be above 3 metres in thundershower areas.
