Building bus stops of the future

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and May Day Group, who are famed for developing detailed bus route posts at bus stops, on Saturday announced the winners of the bus shelter competition in two categories --- general public and student.

The Bt200,000 prize for the general public team went to Natthan Sathiansakphong, Thanaphat Petchdi and Sukhum Saetiao. More details on their design can be seen at https://mayday.city/G027/

Winner in student category - ‘Community-based design bus stop’

The Bt80,000 prize for the student team went to architecture students Sirinda Limsong, Phachara Kangsadarnphiphop, Weth Manochurehakun, and Supawit Sripongpankul from Chulalongkorn University, Their work also won the Bt10,000 popular prize. The BMA and Mayday had launched the contest with the concept "Belonging to Bangkok" in November 2020, encouragung people to participate in giving ideas to change their ordinary transport and roads.

The BMA said it would use both the winning designs to build prototypes before taking the proper design to replace 3,000 old bus stops all over the capital city.
