Thai Airways plans 105 flights on October 2 as staff return

Thai Airways plans 105 flights on October 2 as it clears a baggage backlog, revises international schedules and restores Bangkok–Seoul services.

  • Thai Airways' CEO expressed confidence that the airline will resume its normal schedule of 115 daily flights within seven days.
  • The airline is gradually restoring services after temporary flight reductions, with a plan to operate 105 flights on October 2.
  • The recovery is being facilitated by the return of 80-90% of its ground-service and ramp staff, allowing the airline to clear a backlog of baggage and other work.

Thai Airways International chief executive Chai Eamsiri said about 90% of the airline’s passenger ground-service staff had returned to work and expressed confidence that normal flight operations would resume within seven days. The airline has announced further schedule changes for October 1–3, 2026.

Chai put the proportion of ramp and aircraft-service staff back at work at about 80%, although accumulated baggage and other outstanding work remained. Even with staffing back at 100%, Thai Airways would still need to clear that workload, he added.

Thai Airways plans 105 flights on October 2

Thai Airways plans to operate 105 flights on October 2 as it gradually restores services following temporary capacity reductions, Chai said. The flight cuts are intended to allow staff to clear delayed baggage and other outstanding work as quickly as possible.

“Thai Airways normally operates 115 flights a day. When the problems began, we cut 28 flights. On October 1, we will cut another 15 flights, and on October 2 we will return to 105 flights. Based on our current assessment, we will get back to normal flights within seven days. I believe that is achievable,” Chai said.

Thai Airways prioritises passengers affected on September 26–28

Thai Airways is prioritising passengers affected between September 26 and 28 and will accelerate the delivery of all delayed baggage, Chai said.

Chai thanked Airports of Thailand for providing space and helping organise operations. He apologised to passengers and the Thai public, adding that Thai Airways welcomed suggestions and would act on them to improve its services. nationthailand
