The Thai government has released a tribute song titled "Roi Yim Khong Mae" (Mother's Smile), performed by National Artist Thongchai “Bird” McIntyre, in remembrance of the royal contributions and enduring legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
The song was commissioned by the National Commission on the Royal Cremation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to honour her lifelong dedication to the Thai people.
It highlights her royal duties, compassion for the public, personal grace and commitment to preserving Thailand's artistic and cultural heritage.
The government hopes the song will encourage people across the country to remember her contributions and recognise the lasting value of her royal initiatives.
The song is performed by Thongchai McIntyre, widely known as Bird Thongchai, who was named a National Artist in 2022 in the performing arts category for contemporary Thai music and singing.
The lyrics were written by Nitipong Honark, while Suwatchai Suttirat composed the music and supervised production.
Muk-ek Chongmankhong served as executive producer, with GMM Music Public Company Limited overseeing the production.
The Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office has invited government agencies, private businesses, educational institutions and members of the public to share and promote "Mother's Smile" across all media platforms.
The initiative aims to encourage people throughout Thailand to express their loyalty and gratitude while reflecting on the Queen Mother's royal contributions.
The government also encouraged the public to draw inspiration from her royal initiatives in their daily lives, careers and efforts to develop society.
It expressed hope that these principles would help preserve the positive legacy of her work and contribute to Thailand's stable and sustainable development.
