Earthquakes shake Thailand’s neighbours six times on October 13

Thailand and its neighbours experienced six earthquakes on October 13, with tremors detected in Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and China’s Yunnan province.

The Earthquake Observation Division has reported a series of tremors occurring near Thailand on Monday (October 13).

According to the division under the Thai Meteorological Department, seismic activity continued in neighbouring countries throughout the morning, with six quakes already recorded by 8am. Thailand was close to several of the earthquake epicentres today.

The earthquakes recorded between midnight and 8am were as follows:

  • 7.25am: Magnitude 2.5, depth 10 km, epicentre in Myanmar, about 144 km northwest of Fang district, Chiang Mai.
     
  • 5.40am: Magnitude 3.3, depth 10 km, epicentre in Yunnan province, China, about 349 km northeast of Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai.
     
  • 5.07am: Magnitude 3.7, depth 10 km, epicentre in Laos, about 99 km northeast of Chaloem Phra Kiat district, Nan.
     
  • 3.28am: Magnitude 4.3, depth 10 km, epicentre in Vietnam, about 364 km southeast of Ubon Ratchathani.
     
  • 1.58am: Magnitude 4.8, depth 10 km, epicentre in Vietnam, about 300 km southeast of Ubon Ratchathani.
     
  • 1.13am: Magnitude 4.3, depth 10 km, epicentre in Vietnam, about 314 km southeast of Ubon Ratchathani.
