Thai military rejects Cambodia’s allegations, says it has never violated sovereignty

SUNDAY, JANUARY 04, 2026

The Thai military has flatly rejected Cambodia’s accusations, insisting Thailand respects every country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the UN Charter and the JBC framework.

Air Chief Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, director of the Joint Press Centre on the Thailand–Cambodia Border Situation, issued a statement to the public and the international community on Saturday (January 3) in response to allegations circulated by Cambodia following the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement.

Thailand, he said, categorically rejects any claim that it has encroached on Cambodian territory.

He outlined three points:

  • Respect for sovereignty and non-use of force: Thailand respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and adheres to the principle of non-use of force under international law, while strictly complying with the joint statement mutually agreed by Thailand and Cambodia.

  • Compliance with international law: Thailand fully complies with the UN Charter, international humanitarian law and relevant conventions.
  • Peaceful resolution through dialogue: Thailand remains committed to resolving issues peacefully through bilateral talks, particularly via the Thailand–Cambodia Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).
