Thailand and Qatar pursue energy, food and tourism ties

Thailand and Qatar are seeking to turn their bilateral relationship into practical cooperation in energy and food security, medical services, wellness tourism and finance.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul discussed the proposed cooperation with Abdulaziz Mohammed K. A. Al-Sada, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Thailand, during the envoy’s courtesy call upon assuming his post.
The meeting took place in the reception room on the second floor of the Thai Khu Fah Building at Government House.
Anutin welcomed the ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment. He confirmed that Thailand was ready to work closely with Qatar to strengthen bilateral relations and produce tangible results from their cooperation.
Qatari prime minister interested in official visit
Al-Sada said Qatar’s prime minister was interested in making an official visit to Thailand.
The ambassador also congratulated Thailand on being selected to host the International Monetary Fund meeting. He said Qatar planned to send a high-level delegation comprising its finance minister and central bank governor.
The participation of the two senior officials would provide another opportunity for Thailand and Qatar to advance economic and financial cooperation.
Thailand promoted for medical and wellness tourism
Al-Sada expressed confidence in Thailand’s potential as an important destination for Qatari visitors, particularly for medical services and wellness tourism.
Anutin encouraged more Qataris to visit Thailand and use its medical services, saying the government was prepared to provide them with full assistance.
Energy and food security cooperation explored
Both sides identified opportunities to expand cooperation in energy and food security.
Qatar is an important energy partner for Thailand, while Thailand is prepared to serve as a reliable partner in supporting Qatar’s food security and strengthening supply-chain resilience.
Anutin expressed confidence that Al-Sada’s tenure would help bring Thailand and Qatar closer and lead to tangible cooperation across a wider range of areas.
