Lom Sak raises red flag as Pa Sak hits 8.47m on September 19

Lom Sak Municipality raised a red flag, the highest flood warning, on Saturday (September 19, 2026), after the Pa Sak River reached 8.47 metres at the local monitoring station. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) also sent mobile alerts covering eight districts in Phetchabun following persistent heavy rain.
Pa Sak levels rise at three monitoring stations
Lom Sak Municipality received readings from Phetchabun irrigation authorities at 6am on September 19, Thailand time, showing rising water levels at three stations. Heavy rain throughout the night had sent more water downstream into the Pa Sak River.
The recorded levels were:
- S33, Lom Kao: 5.22 metres, rising.
- S53, Ban Wang Rong Bridge: 4.26 metres, rising.
- S3, Lom Sak: 8.47 metres, rising.
Phetchabun irrigation authorities instructed the municipality to raise a red flag after the S3 reading reached 8.47 metres. Residents facing flood risks in Lom Sak, particularly along the river and in low-lying areas, were warned to prepare for water overflowing the banks.
Mobile flood alerts cover eight Phetchabun districts
DDPM issued a Cell Broadcast warning at 6.13am on September 19, working with mobile operators Advanced Info Service (AIS), True and National Telecom (NT) to reach people in at-risk areas.
The warning identified accumulated heavy rain and continuing rainfall in eight districts:
- Mueang Phetchabun
- Lom Kao
- Lom Sak
- Khao Kho
- Wang Pong
- Chon Daen
- Nam Nao
- Nong Phai
DDPM warned of flash floods, forest run-off, overflowing waterways and waterlogging, particularly beside canals and rivers, in low-lying areas and on foothill slopes.
Residents urged to protect belongings and move vulnerable people
DDPM urged households in at-risk areas to move possessions to higher ground immediately and prioritise helping vulnerable people reach safety. The safety advice covered three main actions:
- Move vehicles and valuables: Relocate cars, motorcycles, important documents and valuable belongings to higher ground, especially from homes beside waterways, in low-lying areas and near foothills.
- Prevent electrical injuries: Switch off fuses or circuit breakers supplying floors that floodwater is approaching. Never touch electrical sockets or appliances while wet or standing in water.
- Prioritise vulnerable people: Help older people, bedridden patients, young children and people with disabilities move to safe areas first.
Residents in Phetchabun were also urged to follow official updates closely and remain prepared around the clock while rainfall continued.
