Queen Sirikit’s royal cremation set for December 16 at Sanam Luang
Queen Sirikit’s royal cremation will take place at Sanam Luang on December 16, 2026, with ceremonies from December 15-19 broadcast live.
The royal cremation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother will take place at 4.30pm on December 16, 2026, at the royal crematorium at Sanam Luang, as part of five days of ceremonies running from December 15-19.
The schedule, published on the Phra Lan Facebook page, sets out the ceremonies leading up to the cremation and the subsequent collection and enshrinement of the royal relics and ashes. All ceremonies will be broadcast live.
Ceremonies begin on December 15
A royal merit-making ceremony ahead of the cremation will be held at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall at 5pm on December 15.
The royal funeral urn will be conveyed to the royal crematorium at Sanam Luang at 7am on December 16, before the royal cremation ceremony at 4.30pm.
Collection and enshrinement of royal relics
The royal relics will be collected at the royal crematorium at 8am on December 17. The relics and royal ashes will then be conveyed to Phra Sri Rattana Chedi at Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, within the Grand Palace.
A royal merit-making ceremony for the royal relics will take place at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall at 5pm on December 18.
The final day, December 19, will begin with the offering of a meal to monks at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall at 10am. The urn containing the royal relics will then be enshrined at Phra Wiman in Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall.
The royal ashes will be interred at 5pm that day in the ordination halls of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram and Wat Bowonniwet Vihara.

Royal permission has been granted for the Public Relations Department, together with the Television Pool of Thailand, to broadcast the royal cremation ceremonies in full throughout December 15-19, 2026.
