Oil rises over 1% on Sept 28 after Trump rejects Iran deal

Brent crude futures reached US$106.14 a barrel as Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz

Oil prices rebounded by more than 1% on Monday (September 28, 2026), following US President Donald Trump’s rejection of an Iranian peace proposal. The proposal was intended to end the US-Iran conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

By 5.02am Thai time on September 28 (2202 GMT on September 27), Brent crude futures were trading at US$106.14 a barrel, up US$1.82, or 1.74%. US West Texas Intermediate crude stood at US$93.55 a barrel, a gain of US$1.14, or 1.23%.
