DDPM issues flood alerts for Suphan Buri and Uthai Thani
Flood alerts have been issued in Suphan Buri and Uthai Thani as river levels rise, with some residents told to move belongings and evacuate immediately.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued flood alerts for parts of Suphan Buri and Uthai Thani, urging residents in risk areas to move belongings to higher ground and, in some locations, evacuate immediately.
On September 30, the DDPM, working with mobile network operators AIS, True and NT, sent Cell Broadcast alerts to residents in Si Prachan, Mueang, Bang Pla Ma, Song Phi Nong and U Thong districts in Suphan Buri as water levels in the Tha Chin River continued to rise.
People living along the Tha Chin River and the Song Phi Nong Main Drainage Canal in the five districts were advised to immediately move belongings, vehicles and valuables to higher ground, secure important documents and remain alert to the risk of electric shock.
Authorities also recommended relocating vulnerable people, particularly children, elderly residents and patients, to safer areas.
On the same day, the DDPM issued another Cell Broadcast alert after water levels in the Khwae Tak Daet River and Khlong Pho in Uthai Thani continued to rise, posing a potential danger to nearby communities.
Residents in flooded areas, particularly Sawang Arom subdistrict in Sawang Arom district, were urged to evacuate immediately to the temporary shelter at Sawang Arom Wittaya School, move their vehicles to safety and follow officials’ instructions.
