Isolated heavy rain forecast for Thailand’s southern provinces
Rainfall in Thailand is forecast to increase during October 5–8, beginning in the Northeast and North, with cooler weather to follow in the Northeast.

- Mariners in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are advised to avoid thunderstorms, where waves are expected to exceed 2 meters.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecast at 5pm on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) that the South would see isolated heavy rain and parts of upper Thailand would have thunderstorms over the next 24 hours.
Residents in the South were urged to beware of hazards from heavy and accumulated rainfall.
These conditions are due to the weakening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand, while southerly and southeasterly winds are blowing over the lower Gulf.
The department also forecast an increase in rainfall in Thailand during October 5–8, beginning in the Northeast and North.
Cooler weather is then expected in the Northeast.
Mariners warned to avoid thunderstorms as waves reach 2 metres
Moderate winds and waves are expected in the upper Andaman Sea, with waves 1–2 metres high and exceeding 2 metres in thunderstorms.
Mariners in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are advised to avoid areas affected by thunderstorms.

North
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 30% of the region, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Tak, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 22–26°C and maximum temperatures 31–35°C, with southwesterly winds at 10–20km/h.
Northeast
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 30% of the region, mainly in Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 23–25°C and maximum temperatures 34–35°C, with westerly winds at 10–20km/h.
Central region
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 30% of the region, mainly in Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Lop Buri and Saraburi.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 23–26°C and maximum temperatures 34–35°C, with southerly winds at 10–20km/h.
East
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 30% of the region, mainly in Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 24–26°C and maximum temperatures 32–34°C, with southerly winds at 15–30km/h.
- Waves are expected to be around 1 metre high, rising above 2 metres in thunderstorms.
South, east coast
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 60% of the region, with isolated heavy rain in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala and Pattani.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 22–25°C and maximum temperatures 32–35°C, with southeasterly winds at 15–30km/h.
- Waves are expected to be around 1 metre high, rising above 2 metres in thunderstorms.
South, west coast
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 60% of the region, with isolated heavy rain in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 23–25°C and maximum temperatures 31–34°C.
- From Phang Nga northwards, southwesterly winds are forecast at 15–35km/h. Waves are expected to be 1–2 metres high, rising above 2 metres in thunderstorms.
- From Phuket southwards, southwesterly winds are forecast at 15–30km/h. Waves are expected to be around 1 metre high, rising above 2 metres in thunderstorms.
Bangkok and surrounding provinces
- Thunderstorms are forecast over 30% of the area.
- Minimum temperatures are expected to be 26–27°C and maximum temperatures 33–35°C, with southerly winds at 10–20km/h.
