The Department of Highways has temporarily opened the Bang Pa-in–Hin Kong section of Motorway No.6 (M6) in both directions, giving motorists an alternative route around roads affected by flooding.
The trial opening began at 6pm on October 6, 2026 and is scheduled to continue until midnight on October 11, or until flood conditions improve, the department said.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploythalay Laksameesaengjan said on October 7 that the measure was introduced to ease travel disruption during the flooding and provide motorists with another option for avoiding inundated routes.
The Department of Highways, under the Transport Ministry, opened the section following government instructions to facilitate travel during the flood situation.
The route forms part of the Bang Pa-in–Nakhon Ratchasima M6 motorway, with only the Bang Pa-in–Hin Kong section being temporarily opened in both directions specifically as a flood bypass.
As the M6 remains under preparation ahead of its full opening, motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and exercise additional caution while using the route.
Drivers should strictly follow traffic signs and instructions from officials, particularly where temporary traffic arrangements are in place.
The Department of Highways said it would continue monitoring flood conditions and adjust the temporary opening as necessary to minimise travel disruption and ensure road safety.
