Thailand meet Chinese Taipei at 4am on August 15 in U17 quarterfinal

Thailand will face Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship at 4am Thailand time on Saturday (August 15), with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

The match will be played in Santiago, Chile, where the tournament’s knockout rounds are being staged.

The FIVB confirmed that the quarterfinals take place on August 14 local time before the semi-finals on August 15.

Thailand advanced after defeating Poland 3-1 in the round of 16, winning 25-19, 25-21, 10-25 and 25-23.

The result sent the Thai team into the last eight, where they meet another Asian side in Chinese Taipei.

Both countries are among the six Asian teams competing at the 24-team championship.

Thailand and Chinese Taipei also met at the inaugural U17 World Championship in 2024.

Chinese Taipei won that encounter 3-0, taking the sets 25-14, 25-15 and 25-22.

The 2026 tournament is the second edition of the Girls’ U17 World Championship and has expanded from 16 teams in 2024 to 24 this year. It runs in Chile from August 6–16.

Thailand’s progress adds another chapter to the country’s long involvement in international age-group women’s volleyball.
