HYROX Bangkok sets Asian record with 20,000 athletes

More than 20,000 athletes from over 60 countries competed at BYD HYROX Bangkok, which organisers called the largest HYROX event yet staged in Asia.

BYD HYROX Bangkok 2026 drew more than 20,000 athletes from over 60 countries during four days of competition, making it the largest HYROX event yet staged in Asia, according to organisers.

International participants accounted for 29% of the field at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, where the competition ran from August 13–16. BYD served as title partner for the second consecutive year.

The event brought together first-time entrants, regular fitness enthusiasts and leading competitors under the standardised HYROX format used at events worldwide, allowing athletes to measure their results against performances recorded in other countries.

Record field reflects HYROX growth in Thailand

William Petty, HYROX event manager for Southeast Asia, said the record turnout reflected the rapid expansion of the sport’s training and competition community in Thailand.

The country now has more than 180 HYROX Training Clubs, while partner gyms and fitness centres are introducing dedicated programmes in response to rising demand.

Organisers estimated that about two-thirds of competitors at the Bangkok event had previously taken part in HYROX, while several thousand entered the competition for the first time.

“Staging the largest HYROX event ever held in Asia is an important milestone, not only for HYROX but also for Thailand’s fitness industry,” Petty said.

He added that HYROX had developed beyond a race-day event into a year-round training activity and international fitness community.

Operating under the concept “Fitness Racing for Everybody”, HYROX uses a consistent competition format intended to accommodate entrants ranging from newcomers to elite athletes.

Bangkok race moves to BITEC in February

The HYROX Asia-Pacific 2026/27 season will continue with events in cities across the region before the competition returns to Bangkok.

The next BYD HYROX Bangkok will be held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from February 11–14, 2027.

Organisers expect the next edition to build on the growth of both regional participation and Thailand’s expanding fitness-racing community.
