The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has opened bookings for “floating train” excursions at Pa Sak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi from November 2026 to January 2027, with return fares for independent travellers starting at 350 baht per person.
Travellers can choose between train tickets for an independently organised outing and one-day packages combining rail travel, meals and guided sightseeing. SRT says it has arranged a range of carriage types and prices to accommodate different budgets and travel preferences.
SRT is working with Lopburi province and the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Lopburi office on the seasonal excursions. The initiative aims to encourage domestic rail tourism, showcase the province’s history, nature and community life, and generate income for local businesses.
The independent travel option offers a scenic train journey above the waters of Pa Sak Jolasid Dam, leaving passengers to organise their own sightseeing. Return fares per person are:
- Third-class fan-cooled seating carriage: 350 baht.
- JR WEST second-class air-conditioned seating and sleeper carriage: 650 baht.
- OTOP TRAIN air-conditioned seating carriage: 650 baht.
The one-day packages combine train travel, meals specified in the itinerary and guided visits to attractions in Lopburi. Activities include visiting historical sites and sunflower fields, experiencing local community life and viewing the “floating train” scenery over the reservoir in the evening.
SRT offers four package choices:
- SRT Royal Blossom Passenger Car: 2,599 baht per person.
- SRT Royal Blossom Group Car: 15,999 baht per compartment for four people.
- Beyond Horizon first class: 2,999 baht per person.
- Beyond Horizon second class: 2,799 baht per person.
Passengers can check travel dates and seat availability and make reservations through the D-Ticket system or at railway stations nationwide. Tickets can be booked no more than 90 days before departure.
SRT’s excursion programme covers November and December 2026 and January 2027. Operating dates and available seats vary by carriage type and service, and availability changes as reservations are made.
SRT advises travellers to plan ahead and select a date and service suited to their preferences and budget. Further information is available from the railway’s customer service centre on 1690, which operates 24 hours a day.
