Mazda has received almost 1,000 orders for the highly anticipated CX-5 crossover -- even before the vehicle's official market launch. The company expects as many as 1,500 orders before the CX-5 is officially introduced on November 7.

Mazda attributed the early bookings to its online marketing strategy, as well as pre-launch test-drive events for the Thai media in New Zealand. The Japanese automaker has also been staging forums and test-drives for its Skyactiv technology, which is featured in the CX-5. In fact the CX-5, the winner of the Japan Car of the Year award for 2012-2013, is the first Mazda model to possess full Skyactiv technology.
“We have been communicating with the public about our innovations and design through our forums, and this has helped boost public awareness of these technologies, which includes the Skyactiv-G and Skyactiv-D engines, Skyactiv-Drive transmission, Skyactive-Body and Skyactiv-Chassis,” said Mazda Sales (Thailand) vice president Sureethip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, who is also responsible for marketing.
Sureethip said the full Skyactiv package is installed in the CX-5, making it a high-performance vehicle with low fuel consumption, while the “Kodo: Soul of Motion” design also helps create an attractive sense of dynamism.
“Anyone who is interested can visit the Skyactiv.mazda.co.th website and learn more about this technology before the official launch of the CX-5,” she added. “Those who visit the website and register will also earn special rights to attend the launch event and become the first Thai customers to experience the CX-5.”
