Tribal loyalty fuels wars, moral responsibility stops them

Alf Haupt, have you no shame? Because you cannot argue intelligently you consistently lie about what I wrote. Nowhere in my letter did I defend the Syrian regime.
What I wrote was that America and Britain have lied in the past about weapons of mass destruction and there is no reason to believe they won’t lie again.
People with Haupt’s mentality smeared those of us who were opposed to going to war with Iraq as being pro-Saddam Hussein. Another lie! And those who opposed the Vietnam War in the ’60s were called “communists”.
Noting that American military might consistently causes horrible death and destruction throughout the world, while rarely improving the situation, in no way means we support the other side.
I am not a pacifist and I believe sometimes war can be morally justified. But America and its lapdog Britain look for almost any excuse to start wars and I, as an American, feel a moral responsibility to speak out against that.
