BCT Expo spotlights low-carbon tech for Thai construction and mining

Building Construction Technology Expo 2026 (BCT Expo 2026) is under way at Hall 7, IMPACT Exhibition Centre, Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together more than 150 brands, low-carbon technologies and more than 30 conference and seminar sessions as Thailand’s construction and mining industries look to improve efficiency, cut waste and strengthen competitiveness.

Running from September 16-18 at Hall 7, the event is being held under the theme “Empowering Net Zero in Construction & Mining”.

Alongside machinery, materials and construction technologies, the exhibition features dedicated areas covering net zero, the circular economy, carbon management and resource efficiency, as well as business-matching and professional development programmes.

For Thai businesses, the event provides access to technologies and industry knowledge that could help address practical challenges ranging from energy and raw-material use to recycling and greenhouse-gas reduction. It also connects companies with government agencies, experts, technology providers and potential business partners.

The exhibition comes as decarbonisation is increasingly linked not only to environmental targets but also to operating costs, resource management and business competitiveness.

Technology and competitiveness

Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, who represented the prime minister at the opening ceremony, placed the circular economy at the centre of the government’s approach to strengthening Thai industry through technology, innovation, more efficient use of resources and waste reduction. His position as industry minister is also confirmed by the Ministry of Industry.

“This represents an important step in connecting innovations in raw materials and recycling with the construction sector and related industries, creating new environmentally responsible business opportunities while sustainably strengthening Thailand’s competitiveness,” Varawut told the opening ceremony.

Building standards and urban development are another focus, with technology increasingly being applied to improve the performance of buildings and infrastructure while reducing environmental impacts.

Supatta Chaitavarun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning (DPT), highlighted energy-efficient buildings, environmentally friendly materials and construction methods that consider efficiency throughout a building’s lifecycle.

“Promoting energy-efficient buildings, environmentally friendly construction materials and construction approaches that consider efficiency throughout the entire lifecycle will help raise standards for urban development and infrastructure while contributing to a more sustainable quality of life for the people,” she noted.

Connecting technology with business needs

Loy Joon How, General Manager of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., described BCT Expo as more than a product showcase, bringing together technology providers, businesses and industry specialists through exhibitions, seminars and business-matching programmes.

He explained that the event is intended to give businesses practical insights into net-zero and circular-economy technologies that can be applied in real-world operations to improve efficiency, reduce resource-related costs and strengthen the competitiveness of the construction and mining industries.

“BCT Expo 2026 is built on the belief that industrial transformation can take place when technology, knowledge and people are effectively connected,” he said.

Turning research into industrial applications

One of the event’s Thailand-focused features is the Department of Primary Industries and Mines (DPIM) Circular Economy Pavilion, which showcases work involving minerals, metals, recycling and alternative raw materials.

Among the technologies on display is a DPIM-developed prototype machine for producing alternative sand from stone dust, alongside greenhouse-gas reduction technologies and carbon-management systems.

Aditad Vasinonta, Director-General of DPIM, described the exhibition as an opportunity to move research and prototype technologies closer to practical industrial use while supporting more efficient management of raw materials. DPIM’s current executive listing identifies Aditad as director-general.

“Connecting research outcomes and prototype technologies with industry applications through this platform will create greater opportunities to translate knowledge into practical use and support Thailand’s industrial transition towards a Circular Economy and a low-carbon society in a tangible manner,” he added.

International links for Thai businesses

Beyond technology displays, BCT Expo is intended to give Thai companies access to international business, technology and knowledge networks that could help them develop partnerships and expand into overseas markets.

Jaruwan Suwannasat, Senior Vice President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), highlighted the wider role of international exhibitions in bringing technologies, knowledge and industry practices into Thailand.

“International trade exhibitions and business events create more than business opportunities. They also serve as important mechanisms for bringing new knowledge, technologies and best practices into Thailand, while providing Thai businesses with opportunities to build networks and expand into international markets,” she explained.

The combination of technology showcases, seminars and business matching also gives local companies opportunities to assess potential solutions and make direct connections with technology providers, while helping Thai researchers and developers link their work with potential industrial applications.

BCT Expo 2026 is organised by IMPACT Exhibition Management and runs until September 18, from 10am to 6pm at Hall 7, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. Admission is free.
