More than 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions are set to participate in the 34th Hong Kong International Optical Fair from November 4 to 6, with artificial intelligence (AI) glasses and vision-care products for older consumers among this year's main attractions.
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association, the three-day fair will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Under the theme “Bright Eyes • New Horizons”, the exhibition will cover frames, lenses, sports and specialist eyewear, eye-care products and emerging wearable technologies, providing international buyers with opportunities to explore new products and suppliers.
The growing focus on smart eyewear follows rapid expansion in the global market, driven by advances in AI and wearable technology.
According to market research company Omdia, global AI eyewear shipments reached 8.7 million units in 2025, representing annual growth of 322%.
Separately, International Data Corporation (IDC) reported that worldwide smart glasses shipments totalled 3.566 million units in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 130.1% year on year.
“The eyewear industry is entering a new era driven by technological innovation, sustainability and changing lifestyles,” explained Smilely Lam, Associate Executive Director of the HKTDC.
Lam highlighted opportunities for cooperation between eyewear manufacturers and other industries as companies develop products incorporating AI voice assistants, augmented reality, real-time translation, video recording and navigation.
The exhibition will also address rising demand for products designed for older consumers, including progressive lenses, smart reading glasses, bone-conduction audio glasses and eye-care devices intended to improve everyday visual comfort.
Sports eyewear, environmentally conscious products and greener manufacturing technologies will also feature prominently.
The fair will welcome companies and industry organisations from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, other parts of Asia, Europe and the United States.
Participating groups will represent several mainland Chinese manufacturing centres, including Danyang in Jiangsu Province and Yingtan in Jiangxi Province, alongside industry organisations from Southeast Asia, South Korea and Japan.
Daegu Health College will participate for the first time, bringing a selection of South Korean eyewear companies to showcase their products.
The Brand Name Gallery will feature approximately 200 international brands, highlighting developments in eyewear design and technology. Meanwhile, the Visionaries of Style zone will provide a platform for creative designer labels.
International buyers have also registered to attend, including Capitol Optical from Singapore, Eyespace Eyewear from the United Kingdom, Grand Optik from Indonesia, Kaundi GmbH from Austria and The Optical Company from Australia.
The exhibition will feature products combining smart technology, vision care and specialised designs. Selected highlights include:
Alongside the product exhibition, a programme of professional forums and seminars will address smart eyewear, sports performance, product testing, certification and developments in vision care.
The 24th Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium will take place on November 5 under the theme “Primary Eye Care in Action: Elevating Clinical Scope and Community Impact”.
Organised by the HKTDC and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optometric Association and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the symposium will bring together specialists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Discussions will cover paediatric eye care, digital eye strain, driving vision assessment, dry-eye management, inherited retinal diseases and cooperation between optometrists and ophthalmologists.
The fair will also host the award presentation ceremony for the 26th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition on its opening day.
Under the theme “Mix & Match”, the competition encourages designers to explore eyewear as a form of fashion and personal expression. A new Technology Concept Award has been introduced for student participants to promote the integration of creative design and technology.
The HKTDC will continue using its EXHIBITION+ hybrid exhibition model to connect exhibitors and buyers beyond the physical event.
The Click2Match online business-matching platform will operate from October 28 to November 13, allowing participants to arrange meetings and explore sourcing opportunities.
During the fair, visitors can also use the Scan2Match function through the HKTDC Marketplace App to save exhibitor information, access product details and submit enquiries.
The Hong Kong International Optical Fair is open to trade visitors aged 18 and above. On-site registration costs HK$100, while pre-registered buyers and those registering for an electronic badge can enter free of charge.
