Property firms see quick recovery

Property firms say demand to buy homes in residential projects has recovered in the first month and a half of 2012 after many potential customers delayed their decision to buy in the final quarter of last year.

Sansiri senior executive vice president Uthai Uthaisangsuk said the company had succeeded in selling condominium projects worth Bt3 billion since the beginning of the year. That shows that demand has returned to the market.
The company targets presales worth Bt2.5 billion at its three-day “Sansiri Life Comes Home” event that started yesterday and ends tomorrow. This should drive its condominium sales to Bt5.5 billion in the first two months of the year. Its condominium sales target for the first quarter is Bt7 billion, while its total presales target, for both low-rise homes and condos, is Bt10 billion for the current quarter.
The company plans to launch 19 new condominium projects worth Bt19 billion this year, part of the total of 26 launches of all types worth Bt27 billion. Five of the condo projects will be upcountry, in Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Khao Yai and Hat Yai. This will increase its condominium presales upcountry to 10-15 per cent of its total revenue target of Bt13 billion from condo projects this year.
Property Perfect chief executive officer Chainid Ngao-Sirimanee said the company had recorded presales worth Bt1.2 billion so far this year. This is 60 per cent higher than in the first six weeks of 2010.
