The service is free of charge for 90 days from DTAC, which claims a 50-per-cent market share for Facebook mobile users in Thailand, with 7.5 million users. DTAC is the first operator in Thailand to offer stickers on Facebook.
Pakorn Pannachet, senior vice president, Marketing Group, said more than 80 per cent of DTAC data users use social and chat services every day. “Thai customers love social and chat services, which is why applications like Facebook, WhatsApp and Line are growing rapidly,” he said.
DTAC’s successful relationship with Facebook is due in part to the attractiveness of the Thai market, with Bangkok currently ranking No-1 Facebook city in the world, as well as DTAC’s strong market position and active Facebook-using customer base, he said.
On top of that, major shareholder Telenor Group maintains a global partnership with Facebook. This provides the social-media giant with a single point of entry to Telenor’s global business units and 150 million-plus subscribers, he added.
