Honda holds No 1 position in passenger-car sales, provides aid to flooded provinces

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co sold 13,679 passenger cars last month, achieving the No 1 sales position for the third quarter with total sales of 45,480 units.

Honda has retained its sales-leadership position for the first nine months of this year with 176,938 units, up 66.2 per cent over the same period last year (106,444 units). This means Honda enjoys more than a 33-per-cent share of Thailand’s passenger-car market.

To celebrate its good sales performance, Honda is running a "Honda for You as Always" campaign with a wide range of activities. The campaign will run until December.

As several provinces are being hit by floods, the Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund has delivered rapid assistance to affected people in the form of survival bags, fibreglass boats powered by Honda engines, and a Honda CR-V equipped with communication tools.

Pitak Pruittisarikorn, executive vice president of Honda Automobile (Thailand), said that like many people, Honda was adversely affected by the great flood of late 2011.

"However, with all the encouragement and support from customers and so many Thai people, we returned to strength very quickly and attained a very strong position this year. To express our gratitude, we are committed to providing the best service to our customers and doing everything we can for society and Thai people as we always do."

The Honda Group of Companies in Thailand set up the Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund on March 31, 2012, to provide immediate emergency assistance in times of natural disasters. The company makes a contribution to the fund for every Honda product sold. This means Honda customers are taking part in helping Thai society and Thai people affected by disasters via all the activities undertaken by the fund.

The current floods have inundated several provinces and caused problems for many people. The Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund delivered 10,000 survival bags worth a total of Bt10 million in such provinces as Prachin Buri, Surin, Ubon Ratchatani, Si Sa Ket, Lop Buri, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan and Ayutthaya.

The fund has expanded its relief efforts to other affected areas as fast as possible. It delivered 30 fibreglass boats and a Honda CR-V equipped with communications tools, all worth a total of more than Bt6 million, to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to support its emergency relief operations.
