Driving down memory lane

The Vintage Car Club of Thailand recently organised the 12th Vintage Car Parade in a campaign to preserve restoration of classic cars as well as promote tourism at the nostalgic beachside resorts of Cha Am and Hua Hin.

The parade consisted of 50 vintage cars driven from Bangkok to Hua Hin. All car owners were required to dress in "vintage" outfits to match their vehicles.
Club boss Kwanchai Paphatpghong said the parade brought back memories as it passed through famous tourist venues in both seaside towns.
Apart from donating sports equipment to students from two local schools, with the ceremony being held at Ban Puen Palace, the caravan visited important venues such as the Phranakohnn Khiri Historical Park (Khaowang) and the Klaikangwol Palace in Hua Hin, where the participants expressed their loyalty to His Majesty the King.
The organisers also allowed the public to check out the vintage cars and take photographs.
The highlights of these vehicles included a 1956 BMW 503 and a BMW Isetta 300, which is one of the few three-wheeler limited edition right-hand drive models from England that exist today.
The event was co-hosted by Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa, Cha Am Municipality, Hua Hin Municipality and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
