500+ weapons, security equipment makers join Defence & Security expo in Nonthaburi

Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang on Monday launched the Defence & Security 2023 exhibition, which includes 500 weapons manufacturers from 40 nations.

Also present were ambassadors and diplomats from different countries.

This year’s regional biennial defence exhibition is being held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi from Monday to Thursday.

The expo covers land, sea and air defence and also includes the exhibition of security equipment as well as conferences. This year it is hosting more than 500 leading manufacturers of military and internal security equipment from 40 countries, including 20 top national pavilions.

Accompanying Sutin were Defence Ministry’s permanent-secretary General Sanitchanok Sangchan, Royal Thai Armed Forces chief General Songwit Noonpakdee, Army Commander-in-Chief General Charoenchai Hinthao, Air Force Commander-in-Chief ACM Punpakdee Pattanakul, and the Royal Thai Navy’s deputy chief ADM Chonlatit Navanukroah.

Sutin also invited defence ministers from allied nations, as well as armed forces chiefs and ambassadors from ASEAN nations to join the event.

In his opening speech, Sutin said the Defence & Security expo was an important event for the Thai Defence Ministry and the armed forces, as they will have a chance to establish security networks with their counterparts in ASEAN nations.

500+ weapons, security equipment makers join Defence & Security expo in Nonthaburi The event has mostly been held in Bangkok since its inception in 1998, though it was held in Singapore in 2002 and 2004 due to political instability in Thailand.

The theme of the event is “Strengthening Partnerships for a Safer Future” and it features a wide range of exhibits and demonstrations of the latest defence and security technology, as well as seminars and conferences on a variety of topics related to defence and security.
