Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin attended a comprehensive briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where representatives from the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), the Board of Investment (BOI), and the Ministry presented key insights.

The briefing took place subsequent to the annual meeting of Thai ambassadors and consuls earlier this week during which brainstorming sessions gave birth to a range of conclusive strategies.

Kanjana Phatarachote, director-general of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Ministry listed the top 10 priority countries identified for trade promotion. These are categorised into major markets, encompassing the United States, China, Japan, Germany, and France.

Additional markets with substantial potential include India, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea. Emerging markets include Saudi Arabia and South Africa, while other markets such as the EU, Latin America, and North America remain pivotal for Thailand.

Both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Parnpree Bahiddha-Ankara, underscored the significance of effective diplomacy, emphasizing its tangible and edible impact. They urged all participants to consistently assess how their actions contribute to the well-being of the populace and generate income for the public.

The Prime Minister recommended a shift away from a mindset that perceives tasks as “undoable”. Instead, he said, individuals should explore alternative approaches if a particular objective cannot be accomplished.

Discussions with the private sector were also held during the three-day meeting.

The government actively engaged with and attentively listened to the opinions and expectations of such prominent entities as the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Bankers' Association, and large business groups with expanding investments abroad.

These entities collectively acknowledged the pivotal role of the Foreign Affairs and Commerce ministries and the Board of Investment (BOI) as gateways for Thailand, describing them as windows through which the strengths and positive aspects of Thailand could be showcased globally and playing a crucial role in attracting foreign benefits to Thailand.
