The flights heading to Bangkok from Seoul and Osaka had to make emergency landings in Hong Kong due to engine malfunction.
The two flights were:
• Flight XJ701 from Seoul on Sunday with 289 passengers and 11 crew members.
After attending to its engine problems in Hong Kong, the flight took off at 2am and landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 4am on Monday with all passengers and crew members safe.
• Flight XJ611 from Osaka on Monday with 364 passengers and 11 crew members.
After landing in Hong Kong to attend to its engine problems, the flight took off at 4pm on Tuesday and is scheduled to land in Suvarnabhumi at 5.30pm.
The airline announced that in compensation, it provided all passengers with:
• Food and drink coupons to spend at Hong Kong Airport as well as free drinks onboard the flight from Hong Kong to Suvarnabhumi.
• Free accommodation for Flight XJ611 passengers.
• Free 2,000 baht credit for future AirAsia tickets.
The airline added that it also gave affected passengers the option of taking another AirAsia flight from Hong Kong to Don Mueang Airport and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
