Lamphun maintains its record for highest voter turnout

Lamphun province recorded the highest voter turnout in Thailand’s May 14 general election at 86.25%, the Election Commission (EC) said on Monday.

The smallest province in Northern region successfully defended its title of best voter turnout in Thailand during the 2019 election, when 87.34% of eligible voters cast their ballots.

The Top 10 provinces with highest vote turnout in the May 14 election are:

1. Lamphun: 287,556 out of 333,392 voters showed up, or 86.25%

2. Phetchaburi: 328,578 out of 388,760 voters, 84.52%

3. Phatthalung: 352,577 out of 417,460 voters, 84.46%

4. Nakhon Pathom: 617,774 out of 739,715 voters, 83.52%

5. Chachoengsao: 477,004 out of 575,796 voters, 82.84%. Ratchaburi achieved the same percentage, with 565,364 out of 682,471 voters.

6. Nakhon Nayok: 173,608 out of 209,959 voters, 82.69%

7. Sara Buri: 420,663 out of 509,408 voters, 82.58%

8. Krabi: 294,837 out of 357,264 voters, 82.53%

9. Ayutthaya: 546,348 out of 663,820 voters, 82.3%

10. Songkhla: 899,221 out of 1,096,442 voters, 82.01%

The most populated provinces also recorded a better than 70% voter turnout, such as Bangkok (74.26%), Chiang Mai (81.89%), Nakhon Ratchasima (76.29), and Phuket (75.05%).

The EC reported a 75.71% voter turnout countrywide in the general election, with 39,514,973 out of 52,241,808 eligible voters casting their votes.

The total number of voided ballots for constituency MPs was recorded at 1,457,899, or 3.69%, while 866,885 ballots of 2.19% for constituency MPs contained no names.
