Myanmar's opposition group says it has seized military outpost as conflict rages
Myanmar's National Unity Government (NUG) posted footage on social media on Thursday (November 9) it says shows its military setting fire to a government barrack in Kalay prison in northern Myanmar.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the location or the date when the videos were filmed.
According to NUG, towns in the Sagaing region are under intense assault, as conflicts escalate between the military government and the resistance.
In Sagaing, the People's Defense Force (PDF), part of NUG, took control of army outposts. Simultaneously, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, an ethnic armed group, aggressively attacked northern Shan state near the China border.
The Myanmar junta now faces its most significant challenge to authority since the 2021 coup, as revolutionary and ethnic armed forces intensify their attacks on numerous junta bases across the north, northeast, northwest, and southeast regions of the country.
