SSC Solutions is setting up a new information-technology company named Anise Asian Thailand to provide cloud computing to small and medium-sized enterprises.

Trirat Chatkaew, chief executive of SSC Solutions, said the company had invested about Bt15 million to set up the new subsidiary.

In the first step, the firm will provide private cloud Web-hosting service powered by the Joyent engine. It then will link to an Internet data centre (IDC) to provide public cloud service under the Star Anise brand to provide solutions and software related to accounting, payroll, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) to SMEs.

The firm will also join with Anise Asian Indonesia and Anise Asian Philippines to provide both private and public cloud computing across the region.

In July, SSC Solutions spun off four business units as subsidiary companies. The spin-off companies are Sense Water, SSC Integration, Knowledge Management Asia and Thai Software Outsourcing. As a result, SSC Solutions became the SSC IT Group, comprising SSC Solutions, Sense Water, SSC Integration, Knowledge Management Asia, Thai Software Outsourcing and Anise Asian Thailand.

"I think the market for in-|formation-technology services |in Thailand is continuing to grow," Trirat said. "Meanwhile, business customers can reduce their investment costs by ac-|cessing IT service in terms of |software as a service, or SaaS, |and cloud computing. There |is also an opportunity for Thai software businesses to provide their solutions and software development to support Asian Economy Community in the near future."

He added that the SSC IT Group this year expected revenue of about Bt80 million, growing to about Bt200 million by the end of 2012.
