Department deputy director-general Channat Kaewmanee said the plots had potential to be developed.
Commercial development of the 150 land plots would enable the department to boost revenue from its current average of Bt3.4 billion per year.
The department owns land plots totalling 22.5 million rai, 99 per cent of which are used for state purposes while only 1 per cent is currently allotted for commercial and social development.
Yongyuth named TOT board’s acting chief
The board of TOT last Friday appointed senior executive vice president Yongyuth Wattanasin as the state agency’s new acting president.
He will replace Montchai Noosong, who voluntarily left the post to take charge of expansion of TOT’s 3G network. Montchai remains TOT’s senior executive vice president.
The two appointments took effect immediately.
TOT is in the process of selecting a new president. The two candidates are Yongyuth and Natnutcha Chaipasert, the other senior executive vice president. They will present their vision for the agency to a selection panel on December 13, which will its selection on December 19.
OTOP e-commerce fair this month
Thaitrade.com, Thailand’s first official B2B E-marketplace developed by the Department of International Trade Promotion, will bring over 100 local entrepreneurs to participate in an e-commerce fair entitled “OTOP 2012 Online Business Matching” to be held between December 15 and 21, at Impact Muang Thong Thani’s Challenger Hall 1-3.
The fair, aimed at boosting local manufacturers’ OTOP products to another development level, will highlight online business matching with “Live VDO Chat” – a video-conference system on Thaitrade.com website. The business matching will be handled for local producers and exporters of OTOP premium products with more than 100 buyers from around the world.
