The Founder Institute, a start-up accelerator based in Silicon Valley in the US, has expanded into Thailand, backed by the technology of Effective Measure.

Founded in Australia, Effective Measure is a provider of digital-media planning solutions and online measurement in emerging markets, and says it is supporting the growth of the Southeast Asian entrepreneurial technology sector through a regional alliance with the Founder Institute. The alliance was forged in Singapore and Malaysia in July.
The Founder Institute, created by a group of entrepreneurs, has a remit to globalise the innovation of Silicon Valley by fostering local start-up ecosystems in promising markets internationally. The programme now operates in six locations across Southeast Asia, and has launched 140 companies in the region since 2010.
To support the digital measurement needs of emerging start-ups, Effective Measure is providing members of the Founder Institute’s new chapter in Bangkok with free access to its “brand and audience” digital measurement and analytics solution. The offer is open to selected members of the Founder Institute mentoring programme for 12 months.
The Bangkok chapter will be led by three operators in the Thai start-up ecosystem: Krating Poonpol, Benjamin Ranck and Charle Charoenphan.
“Thailand is displaying all the hallmarks of emerging as a regional trailblazer in the creation of start-up ventures,” said Charle, founder and managing director of Hubba, Thailand’s first “co-working” community for start-ups. “A significant influx of foreign venture capital has been streaming into the region over the last few months, which major funding-incubator programmes are leveraging.”
“The Founder Institute can play a vital role at the earliest stage of company development, in order to prepare founders to build enduring companies, using Silicon Valley best practices and working with the best of breed solutions providers such as Effective Measure that can help the burgeoning tech start-up sector get its metrics right from the ground up,” he said.
Founder Institute start-ups will be able to use Effective Measure’s comprehensive dashboard, which aggregates the online data of their digital assets, allowing for a deeper understanding of their audience and consumer behaviour. The solution also provides assessment of the qualitative and quantitative effectiveness of advertising campaigns and includes mobile and tablet segmentation.
“We are delighted to support the framework of innovation that the Founders Institute is providing through the region,” said Tom Hogg, Effective Measure commercial director for Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
“By equipping start-up founders with the best resources to get the most out of their own digital assets, we believe that these entrepreneurs will get a competitive edge right from the inception of their journey. We trust that Effective Measure’s insights will prove invaluable to tailoring their offering into the next phase of growth,” Hogg said.
Under the Founder Institute’s part-time, four-month programme, promising start-up entrepreneurs can “learn by doing” and launch a technology company through structured training courses, practical business-building assignments, and expert feedback from a large network of business mentors.
