TELECOM network service provider United Information Highway (UIH) has targeted revenue of at least Bt3.5 billion this year, up 10 per cent from 2014.

It will also invest Bt800 million this year to reinforce its telecom network in all 77 provinces.
UIH executive committee chairman Vichai Bencharongkul said yesterday that the government’s “digital economy” policy would open up more opportunities for the company to capture more customers, including corporates and government departments.
“Given the firm direction of Thailand moving towards a digital economy to ensure the nation’s long-term economic growth, UIH, as Thailand’s leading telecom service provider for more than 20 years, is preparing to engage in the Thai government’s policy and to contribute to the nation’s economy with well-rounded products and services supporting various industries,” he said.

High-speed data
UIH provides high-speed data communication services via leased optical-fibre networks nationwide. Its customers include state enterprises, and both public and private organisations, that require online data and multimedia communications that can be linked to their branches in Greater Bangkok and the provinces. It has 60,000 kilometres of fibre-optic cable covering 90 per cent of the country.
UIH claims about 30 per cent of the total market value of Bt9 billion.
UIH also has seven gateways, in Chiang Rai, Tak, Nong Khai, Mukdahan, Sa Kaew and Songkhla (in Hat Yai and Dan Nok), providing connectivity to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Malaysia. In addition, the company has laid infrastructure providing global connectivity with two point-of-presence locations in Singapore and Hong Kong, which will ease and expedite the reach to the global destinations. UIH has partnered with Total Access Communication (DTAC) in offering fixed-line and mobile broadband solutions and services and with TCC Technology and 1-Net in providing data-centre service in Thailand and Singapore respectively.
Furthermore, the company has associated with the largest content cache provider in China, ChinaCache, to offer a new content delivery network, a service that will be officially announced in the near future.
