Microsoft is banking on 'cloud' growth

MICROSOFT THAILAND is transforming from a traditional software company into cloud computing to cash in on the expected growth of this market.

Orapong Thien-Ngern, the new general manager of Microsoft Thailand, said it was reorganising its internal operations to create an ecosystem focusing on providing solutions for cloud computing.
He said the demand for cloud-computing service was growing strongly in the |business community, because of its advantages in terms of time to market and productivity.
“Microsoft is also creating an ecosystem so that business partners can distribute its products in terms of licensing and online channels as application as a service,” Orapong said.
The company now has more than 350 cloud business partners among its approximately 1,800 partners in Thailand.
The firm this year will also focus on its core business areas: Windows 10, Skype, the Microsoft Productivity suite, its Dynamics suite, which provides enterprise solutions including customer relationship management and enterprise resource planning, servers and other tools, and cloud business.
Orapong said the cloud-computing market this year would see more than triple-digit growth in Thailand.
“I joined Microsoft since I saw the trend and potential of the business, and I believe that Microsoft can charge the world and Microsoft stand at the for forth of the world. “I have a personal commitment to fulfil the change and [follow the] trends of technology, which will be able to create business growth,” said the new general manager.
