The LoxSim Driving Simulation Centre will be used for heavy vehicle training and intensive research and development activities for road safety.
LoxSim said in a statement that it had implemented technology from AutoSim, a Norwegian driving simulation technology leader. LoxSim is AutoSim's exclusive reseller in Thailand and several other Asean countries.
LoxSim is held by Loxley Orbit Company Limited, which is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Loxley Plc.
The driving simulation centre is located on 130 square metres of Loxley’s Bangkaen office. Loxsim had invested more than Bt30 million in the simulator and related infrastructure.
The heavy-vehicle driving simulator uses the same standards and training practice as professional full-scale flight simulators for pilot training. The simulator within the centre can be use for heavy vehicles of all types such as tank trucks, rigid trucks and semi-trailers.
The simulator system also allows for simulated engine, transmission, gear, load type and weight depending on customer’s training requirements. Driving conditions are also adjustable based on the weather and local road conditions, allowing drivers to train in dangerous situations.
The company said the core customers of the driving simulation centre would be public and private companies that transport dangerous and sensitive goods.
LoxSim chief executive officer Wansit Chatikavanij said the Shell Company of Thailand would be the company’s first customer and also its partner in the development of driving simulation.

Honestbee officially launches
delivery services
Honestbee, which describes itself as Asia’s major online concierge and delivery service, yesterday officially launched its Honestbee Goodship logistics service in Thailand.
Honestbee Goodship has been operating parcel deliveries in Bangkok for a couple of months before this official announcement, catering to business-to-business and business-to-client deliveries. The company said that its focus is on “last-mile same-day or next-day e-commerce delivery with a move towards on-demand delivery for end-consumers within an hour to follow soon”.
The country head of Honestbee Goodhsip, Theresa Mathawaphan, has a background in retail, technology management and business start-ups, and was part of the international team who developed the country’s first tech start-up incubator at the Thailand Science Park. She said she is confident that Goodship will be a good partner for many businesses in the city.
“Logistics can let companies down and therefore being able to call on the reliable services of a third-party – and one that understands the need for a fast, trustworthy delivery – is crucial, particularly in a city where, whether online or offline, goods need to move quickly.
“Customer tracking and a real-time fleet-tracking system are essential elements of this service too.”
With daily deliveries of Honestbee Goodship now surpassing the grocery and restaurant deliveries combined, the target is to deliver in excess of 50,000 orders per day over the next 12 months.
As well as Thailand, Honestbee Goodship has a successful presence in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Japan. More countries are to be rolled.
Currently, Honestbee runs two business-to-client delivery services in Bangkok: groceries handpicked by shoppers and delivered fresh to customers’ doors in one hour, and restaurant food deliveries with customers ordering online and on-demand delivery in less than 60 minutes.
The company’s fleet comprises 80 per cent delivery motorbikes and 20 per cent delivery trucks.
