Mercedes-Benz electric GLC leads new Thailand product strategy

Mercedes-Benz Thailand previews the all-new electric GLC with a WLTP range of more than 600km as it expands its product and customer strategy.

  • Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its all-electric GLC SUV in Thailand, positioning it as a key model in its new market strategy, with a formal launch planned for late 2026 and deliveries starting in early 2027.
  • The new mid-size SUV features an 85 kWh battery offering over 600 kilometres of range, and introduces the company's new MB.OS operating system.
  • As part of a commitment to local production, the electric GLC will be assembled in Thailand using a locally produced battery, following the same approach as the electric CLA.
  • The vehicle's launch is part of a broader strategy that includes restructuring prices on 11 existing models and enhancing customer services through a new 'FLEX Campaign'.

Mercedes-Benz Thailand has given the all-new electric GLC its first local preview, positioning the battery-electric mid-size SUV as one of the key models in the brand’s next phase in the Thai market.

Expected to be priced below THB3.7 million, the new GLC will be officially launched at Motor Expo 2026, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2027. Before then, it will go on public display at Mercedes-Benz StarFest 2026 at Gaysorn Amarin in Bangkok from September 24-27.

Developed on the new MB.EA-M platform for mid-size electric vehicles, the SUV is equipped with an 85 kWh battery and offers more than 600 kilometres of driving range under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), the standard used to measure vehicle efficiency and range.

Mercedes-Benz puts its average energy consumption at 15–16 kWh per 100 kilometres.

The model also introduces the company’s MB.OS operating system, which manages the vehicle’s digital and connected functions, alongside a redesigned illuminated grille and a 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen stretching across the dashboard.

Christian Schell, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited

Christian Schell, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited, expects the electric GLC to have an impact similar to that of the all-new electric CLA, but in Thailand’s popular mid-size SUV segment.

“I expect nothing less than the effect that we had with the CLA as well, but just in a different segment. The GLC segment is very popular here in Thailand, and I think this car will be another home run for Mercedes-Benz.”

He also expects customers to look beyond price when considering the new model.

“Our customers want that car not because it costs 3.7, 3.9 or 3.3 million baht, but because it is an extraordinary car with great value. We have an amazing portfolio and customers who love our cars, so I am quite certain this car will achieve its goals.”

FLEX strategy supports customer experience

The GLC preview follows the rebranding of Mercedes-Benz Thailand’s financial and after-sales services under the FLEX Campaign, which is designed to give customers greater flexibility and more peace of mind throughout the ownership experience.

Mercedes-Benz reported a positive response in August 2026, with online leads rising by 188% and leads assigned to authorised agents increasing by 181% compared with July.

The company has also restructured list prices across 11 existing models, including vehicles in the C-Class, E-Class, GLC, GLE and GLS ranges as well as Mercedes-AMG models.

The reductions range from THB100,000 to THB1.03 million, representing a broad repositioning of the existing line-up rather than a discount on one particular model.

Against a backdrop of higher fuel costs and increasingly intense competition in Thailand’s automotive market, Schell sees long-standing trust in the Mercedes-Benz brand as an important advantage.

Referring to Mercedes-Benz’s familiar three-pointed-star emblem, he highlighted the company’s long history and customer loyalty.

“The three-pointed star represents generations of trust and aspiration. We have an exceptionally loyal customer base who value our engineering and safety standards.”

Schell also pointed to the company’s financing options, authorised-agent network and local spare-parts availability as strengths in a market where established brands are facing growing competition.

“We are invested here, producing locally, and here to stay. Rather than worrying about competitors, my priority is ensuring our customers remain delighted.”

Mercedes-Benz is also expanding its local manufacturing commitment. The electric CLA is assembled in Thailand with a locally produced battery, while the electric GLC will follow the same approach, with more locally produced models planned.
