The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) will jointly host "Digital Thailand Big Bang 2019," between October 28 -31 ‬ at Hall EH98-104, BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center on Bangna-Trat road, Bangkok. The event is an international digital technology symposium under the concept of Asean Connectivity, in line with Thailand’s chairmanship for the 34th-35th Asean Summit.

It will feature three prominent zones - Digital Economy, Digital Society and Creativity, aiming to raise awareness of digital transformation and draw Thais  closer to the technology and innovation.

Buddhipongse Punnakanta, minister of Digital Economy and Society ministry said the symposium will serve as a platform for Thais to adapt to  the new technology, giving them the option of using it in an appropriate, effective and sustainable manner. It will also demonstrate Thailand’s readiness for digital transformation, which will boost business confidence and attract foreign investment to the country.

“MDES intends to build up digital skills among Thai people. We focus not only on promoting usage at the user level, but also on developing Thai-owned technologies and innovation, providing digital services to the Thai population  and the global community. It is undeniable that we have a long way to go and Digital Thailand Big Bang will serve as a shortcut to the knowledge and experience collected on one platform as well as  providing  an opportunity for experience sharing and collaboration,”   Buddhipongse said.

Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, president/CEO of depa, said the event this year will be held under the theme “Asean Connectivity” and is one of the largest on digital technology in Southeast Asia. It is also an  opportunity to show off Thailand’s journey towards becoming the Asean digital hub. With more than 40,000 sqm of exhibition space, the event will have 300 booths dedicated to the promotion of applications and entrepreneurship in the digital industry.

The three zones at the event are  Digital Economy which will showcase urban digital economy;  Digital Society to stress the importance of digital skills: and the Creativity zone, designed to show off the power of innovative technologies.  Gathering  technologies from various startups and game developers, this  zone presents how digital technologies can unlock human's unlimited capacity for creativity.
