Roadside booby trap in Narathiwat injures one

A man was wounded on Monday in Narathiwat's Rangae district after stepping on a booby trap planted by insurgents on a road.

Worha Baeloh, 42, was riding his motorcycle from Ngee-Ngor municipality to his house after finishing an errand. He stopped on Tanyong-Ngee Ngor Road to answer the call of nature and triggered the explosives in a booby trap planted by insurgents at the base of a tree, injuring him in both the feet and face.

Despite the wounds, he rode his motorcycle to Rangae hospital and alerted police about the bomb.
Police believed that the bomb was aimed at troopers but Worha unfortunately found it first.
He is the fourth victim in recent weeks of booby traps in the province, which has suffered violence and attacks at the hands of insurgents. 
Muslim and Buddhist leaders mean while visited and donated money to the first three victims at a hospital in the province.
The first was Charoen Dangtae, 64, whose left leg was badly damaged by an explosion while was working in a rubber plantation, the second was Jiraporn Rattanaprom, 41, who lost her leg in an explosion, while the third was Muhammad Lahteh, 9, who also lost his left leg.
The mother of Muhammad, who was not identified by name, told reporters that she wanted to see peace restored in the region and did not want to see anyone else injured in this way, while his father said he wanted officers to take more care of local people and restore trust.
Charoen’s wife said with her husband injured, there was no one to work for the family. She suffered from chronic disease and was unable to work. Since the explosion, she has also been too scared to enter a rubber plantation.
