Asa retires from palace duties

Asa Sarasin, 64, has retired as secretary-general of the Office of His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary after serving for 12 years.

He will be succeeded by one of the deputies, Kris Kanchanakunchorn, making him the sixth person in that post during His Majesty’s reign. The promotion takes effect on Monday.

Asa is known for being good at his job and serving His Majesty in an exemplary manner. His several initiatives and commitment to the Office’s missions have earned it a good governance status.
A career diplomat for most of his life, Asa entered politics as foreign minister in 1992, under Anand Panyarachun’s government. He held the position for two terms before serving one year as deputy secretary-general at the Office and then becoming the chief in 2000.
