These are the guidelines they were given by the university’s adviser and Nation Multimedia Group (NMG) chairman Suthichai Yoon, who delivered an address to hundreds of new students during their orientation session yesterday.
“The university’s teaching process focuses on ideas, imagination, and initiatives,” Suthichai said. “So, use the knowledge from textbooks to create new things. If you do it seriously and with discipline, all your dreams can come true.”
This year, the Bang Na campus has already enrolled 292 new students to its Faculty of Business Administration and Faculty of Communication Arts. The university also has a campus in Lampang.
The university’s president Asst Prof Pong-in Rak-ariyatham said the institute’s work-integrated learning process was what made it stand out.
“We are providing educational services in line with the Office of Higher Education Commission’s standard. But more than that, we have offered students opportunities to access the real-working environment. They will get both knowledge from classrooms and work experiences,” he said.
According to him, all first-year students at the Faculty of Communication Arts, for example, will be exposed to various work fields such as print media or TV allowing them to know which arena they like most.
“After that, their training will focus on their chosen fields,” Pong-in said.
He expressed confidence that Nation University graduates would be able to adapt well for careers in the real world.
Suthichai emphasised that Nation University members should embrace the “WE” concept.
“Think about the society as a whole, not just ME,” he advised.
Chakkrish Permpool, dean of Communication Arts Faculty, also reiterated that Nation University graduates should be armed with both ability and a strong code of ethics.
Torboon Puangmaha, dean of the Business Administration Faculty, said at this faculty lecturers served as coaches and students were encouraged to listen, learn and link.
