Police on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against former deputy interior minister Pracha Maleenont, for failing to show up to hear the Supreme Court's judgement on an alleged corruption case.

Pracha is the second defendant in the case against five former top officials and an Austrian company over alleged corruption in the purchase of fire boats and trucks for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in 2004.
His disappearance forced the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions to postpone the judgement on the case to September 10.  On the day, the judgement can be read even in Pracha's absence.
The case also involved former interior minister Pokin Polakul, former commerce minister Watana Muangsook, former Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin, and the Austrian supplier Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeug AG.
