SOLID EVIDENCE exists of land encroachment by Bonanza International Speedway, a local land-reform official said yesterday.

The speedway is nestled in the arm of nature in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Chong district.
Allegations that it has encroached on forestland and agricultural-reform land emerged, prompting relevant authorities to launch a probe.
“All relevant authorities have already measured its land there carefully and thus it becomes 100 per cent clear that the Bonanza International Speedway has engaged in land encroachment,” Chamnan Klinchan, a local land-reform official, said yesterday.
According to him, the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO) found that the speedway occupied 57 rai (22.5 acres) of its land.
This is in addition to evidence suggesting encroachment onto a forest reserve, woodland and public waterways, he said.
Chamnan added that the ALRO was in the process of calculating damages from the encroachment and would sue the speedway for compensation.
He said the Nakhon Ratchasima Land Office and the Royal Forestry Department would also take action.
Chamnan suggested that even the Nor Sor 3 Kor land-rights documents held by the firm seemed to have problems.
“In all, it has encroached on 166 rai of state land,” he said.
Nakhon Ratchasima deputy police chief Colonel Boonlert Wongwajjana said police expected to conclude their investigation into the speedway next month.
