FRIDAY, MARCH 04, 2016

Valletta - Tony Dyson, one of the main creators of iconic Star Wars robot R2-D2, has been found dead in Malta, police said Friday.

The body of the 68-year-old Briton was discovered at his home on the island of Gozo after he was not seen for a number of days.
An autopsy is to be held to determine Dyson's cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
R2-D2 has been one of the world's favourite screen characters since appearing in the first Star Wars film in 1977.
Dyson, an Emmy-nominated special effects supervisor, had worked on a number of films, including Superman 2 and Moonraker.
He also designed and built robots for some of the largest electronic companies in the world, including Sony, Philips and Toshiba.
