Stamford International University reveals 4-I model with industry links, global perspective

Stamford International University recently revealed a new tool in its strategy to become the leading institution in Thailand and the Asean region.

“The 4-I model comprises the core elements of interactive learning, industry linkage, international perspective and integrity,” said Gilles Mahe, CEO of Laureate Thailand.
“These elements are designed to maximise student outcomes and prepare for the challenging and dynamic modern workplace.
“A Stamford graduate is job ready, with the necessary skills to succeed and thrive anywhere in the world. This ability to adapt to any workplace is essential as the world grows ever more connected and Thailand prepares for Asean.”
Andrew Scown, who helped develop education for offshore operations of Australia’s Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology over the past 20 years, has succeeded Asst Professor Boonmark Sirinaovakul, who had served as president since 2010.
“International perspective relates to how we’ve created international education, granting students access to global education, encouraging them to be confident in any environment and take on challenges,” Scown said.
“Regarding interactive learning, Stamford has leveraged best practices from our global network under Laureate, which operates 80 universities across 28 countries worldwide, to meet the local context.
“We are leading the way, in Thailand and beyond, with many of our innovative teaching methodologies. Students learn skills first-hand through engaging in case studies, using a blend of classroom and online learning.”
Stamford had worked with many organisations and would continue to do that to give students real-life experience and enhance their skills for industry needs, he said.
For example, Stamford recently created a Bloomberg Lab – the first university in Thailand to provide full-scale Bloomberg terminals, where students can learn about the capital market on a real-time basis. These allow them to fully analyse the economy with professional equipment and teach them how experts interact with the market.
“Integrity will reflect how we do things and the values we’ve created for students, industry, society and community. It’s aligned with our ‘Here For Good’ motto,” he said.
“International relations will narrow the gaps of understanding when dealing with dynamic changes in economic, social and political issues across countries and will guide and instruct students on how to best respond to such challenges.”
For the Hua Hin campus, Stamford aims to internationalise education, introducing dual campus projects and adding international programmes for the business management and hotel management subjects.
“The dual campus project will allow local students in Hua Hin to choose to study any of the six subjects taught in Bangkok,” he said.
Also, the university has brought its Signature MBA programme to Hua Hin, allowing students access to its award-winning online education format.“We’ve brought in the best practices from around the world and made them accessible for students here.
“Regardless of place, our students will be able to gain access to the best global education and enhance the skill-sets required for their future careers,” he said.
