The Platinum Group expects 2017 revenue at Bt2 billion

Commercial real-estate developer the Platinum Group has reported profits of Bt371 million for the first half of 2017 and forecasts that revenue to reach Bt2 billion.

It credits “solid management of both current and new projects, in combination with an enhanced efficiency of incremental income from the shopping centre”.
It expects revenue to leap again by 2019 following the opening of the Market Bangkok retail complex in the last quarter of next year.
President Chanchai Phansopha reported revenue of Bt997 million for H1 this year, representing 9-per-cent growth over the same period of last year, and net profit of Bt371 million, up 8 per cent.
Revenue from rental and services rose 15 per cent, from food and beverages 14 per cent and from the hotel business 6 per cent.
The gross profit margin for its core business averaged 62 per cent.
An increasing rental rate at the Platinum Fashion Mall and the launch of Talad Neon-Down Town Night Market last December boosted earnings.
Rising revenue in food and beverages was primarily due to a 15-per-cent increase in both Thai and foreigner visitors to the mall. The food court was revamped to offer a greater variety of choices.
Hotel revenues rose due to a higher average daily rate compared to the same period of last year, as a result of more MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events).
People attending MICE have greater purchasing power and the company provided them room upgrades, leading to increased revenue per room.
The company also organised buffet promotions, boosting food and beverage income.
Talad Neon-Down Town Night Market on Soi Phetchaburi 23-29 has become popular among the younger generation and a rendezvous for food lovers and people who enjoy late-night shopping.
A 300-strong tour group from Indonesia visited Neon Market on July 15, arriving in five buses and 90 tuk-tuks.
Neon Market offers a variety of retail outlets and hosts entertaining events and activities each month. “Concert with the Rain” from June 21-25 featured 20 indie music groups. “Neon Market Thai Show” from July 19-23 had conservation as its concept and from August 23-27 will focus on “applied Thai tradition”.
The company will stage various events for tourists at Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam Hotel at the end of the year, including a poolside New Year party, Christmas Eve and New Year buffets at the Square Restaurant, and a renowned DJ and band performing at the rooftop Bar9 Beer Garden.
The Market Bangkok will have a gross floor area of 195,000 square metres. Both interior and exterior are designed as a perfect combination of Thai and Western styles.
The project has an investment value of Bt5.8 billion and will cover 20 rai. It’s set to open at the end of 2018.
Five hundred metres in length and six metres wide, Ratchaprasong Walk (R Walk, formerly known as Bangkok Skyline), a joint venture with and Gaysorn Group, has an investment value of Bt400 million.
Phase 1 and 2 were connected on March 29 and are now open, with 58,000 people per day using it.
The walkway is linked with the Platinum Fashion Mall, Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam Hotel, the Market Bangkok, Big C Ratchadamri, Gaysorn Village and Amarin Plaza and links the Chidlom and Siam BTS stations.
