The crocodile captured from the tin mine lake near Laypang and Bang Tao Beach last month on Friday started to eat some chicken after rejecting the tasty morsels for a month.

The crocodile’s complete DNA test is expected early next month.

The 200-kilogram reptile, that remains in the rehabilitation pond at the Phuket Coastal Aquatic Animals Development Centre, is healthy but has declined to eat the food given in the pond until today, making the staff very happy to see it was eating the food.

The DNA test, to see whether the crocodile is a saltwater or a mixed breed, is expected to be revealed soon.

After getting the results, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, who is the main responsible department, will schedule a meeting with all sections involved to find a proper home for Laypang.
